Out of the total vacancies for the post of Senior Resident / Tutor, 40% of the seats will be filled from members of the Bihar State Health Service Cadre. Another 40% vacancies will be reserved for candidates who have completed their Postgraduate Degree (PG) under the Residency Scheme from Medical Colleges within Bihar. The remaining 20% posts will be allotted to those doctors who have obtained a Postgraduate Degree (Residency Scheme) from recognized institutions located outside the state.

The minimum educational qualification required for the Senior Resident / Tutor post is a Postgraduate Degree in the relevant subject (MD/MS/DNB). In case sufficient eligible PG degree holders are not available, candidates holding a Diploma qualification may also be considered. Diploma holders will be awarded 10 additional points equivalent to the PG degree weightage; however, their position in the merit list will be below the PG degree candidates.

Candidates possessing an equivalent Postgraduate qualification as per the norms of the National Medical Commission (NMC) will also be eligible to apply.
