The National Testing Agency (NTA) has specified detailed eligibility requirements for candidates applying for the UGC NET December 2025 examination. Candidates must carefully review the qualification and age criteria before submitting their application form.

Educational Qualification

• General / UR / EWS candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination in Humanities, Social Sciences (including languages), Computer Science, Electronic Science, or any related subject.

• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender candidates must have obtained at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination to be eligible for the test.

• Candidates currently pursuing their Master’s Degree or who have appeared for the final year exam and are awaiting results may also apply. However, such candidates will be considered provisionally eligible and must complete their Master’s Degree with the required percentage within two years from the date of the UGC NET result. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.

UGC NET 2025 Age Limit

• For JRF (Junior Research Fellowship):
  The applicant should not be more than 30 years old as on 1st December 2025.
  (Age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the rules set by the Government of India.)

• For Assistant Professor:
  There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for eligibility as Assistant Professor through UGC NET.

• For Admission to Ph.D.:
  There is no upper age limit for applying to UGC NET for Ph.D. admission.
